Annual Line Flushing

A red fire hydrant is gushing water onto the pavement, creating a stream that flows towards the grass.

Taylor West Weber Water will be flushing their water lines starting Tuesday, September 8th until Friday, October 9th excluding weekends. We will be updating the areas being flushed weekly.

During this time, you may have temporary water loss, or just have very low pressure. You may also get temporary discoloring of the water, anywhere from light yellow to dark brown.

  • Iron colored water is generally related to groundwater wells. Because Taylor West Weber Water uses wells as their main source of water the iron mineral is soluble and discolors the water. Iron will builds up on the inside of the pipelines and when it is disturbed by the unusual water flow it will discolor.
  • Discolored water is not harmful and may still be used during the flush.
  • During this time, please make sure water is running clear before doing any clothes washing. Discolored water may cause clothes to discolor.
  • If any hot/warm water is used while water is discolored it will be stored in your hot water tank. You may want to flush the hot water tank to remove any discolored water.
  • If you are a landlord and have any renters in our District who this may affect, please notify them.

By flushing, we hope to help remove some of the iron build up to help keep discoloration of the water to a minimum. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience. Please remember the aquifer that our wells are pumping from has a lot of natural iron and sulfur content and we do this flush to lessen the effects of these. However, it will not eliminate them and you could experience discolored and/or smelly water occasionality throughout the year. We are doing everything possible to provide quality water to the district.

WARNING: THERE MAY BE A SHORT PERIOD OF HIGH WATER TABLE CREATED IN YOUR AREA AS WE FLUSH AND A SHORT TIME AFTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SUMP PUMPS ARE WORKING CORRECTLY.
